Dobřichovice lies on both banks of the Berounka. It is about 23 km southwest of central Prague. Dobřichovice regained town status in 2006.

The first written reference to Dobřichovice dates to 6 April 1253. On that day, King Wenceslas I confirmed the gift of Dobřichovice to the Knights of the Red Star. The Baroque castle with its chapel dedicated to St Jude Thaddeus stands in Dobřichovice. It was a summer residence of the grand masters of the Knights of the Red Star and has returned to the Order's ownership.
